Kirby Clark Artwork

Welcome to the art of Kirby Clark.

I make figurative work about the things we notice, the people we remember, and the images we can't quite let go of.

My practice exists somewhere between photography and drawing, observation and imagination, familiarity and reinvention.

I am interested in art that is bright, immediate, accessible, sincere, and unapologetically excited to exist.

My work embraces the visual language of Pop Art while rejecting its indifference.

Where Pop can be detached and satirical, I want to be enthusiastic. Where celebrity can become disposable and superficial, I want to linger deeper on it. Where repetition can flatten an image, I want repetition to make it louder.

I am currently working within my Imitation Period. Exploring what happens when familiar images and established artistic languages are taken apart, rebuilt, and enthusiastically thrown back into the world.

The work is colorful.

The references are obvious.

The enthusiasm is genuine.

IF THERE IS NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN,
THEN LET'S MAKE SOMETHING FUN ANYWAY.

My practice is organized into periods that document how my visual language has developed over time.

ERUDITION. 2021–2023
A self-taught artist learning through observation, experimentation, exposure, and an almost insatiable appetite for art.

IMITATION. 2023–Present
An intentional investigation of influence, reproduction, reinterpretation, and the complicated space between copying an image and making it your own.

SERIES
Some ideas refuse to stay inside a single painting.
My series allow me to return to a subject, image, technique, or visual language again and again—pushing repetition until something new begins to emerge.

PUBLIC WORKS
Art doesn't have to stay inside a frame.
My practice has also expanded into murals, commissioned work, and environments where artwork becomes part of the space people actually inhabit.
